Australian actress Cate Blanchett was certainly dressed to impress and feeling perhaps a little patriotic when she arrived at the 27th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

The 46-year-old stepped out at the Convention Centre in California on Saturday showcasing a beautiful blue gown embellished with a floral design resembling a native Australian plant.

Cate's pale blue number featured red blooms across the front, very similar to the Albany red flowering gum, part of the Eucalyptus plant family. 


Stunning Cate: With long-sleeves and defined shoulder pads, the actress's outfit showcased her slender figure perfectly .


 Wearing her luscious golden locks out in a subtle wave, Cate ensured her makeup coordinated with spectacularly with her ensemble.


She slipped her feet into a pair of classy white pointy-toed heels, while keeping the rest of her accessories to a minimum with simply a gold bangle wrapped around her right wrist.


Cate was overcome after accepting the Desert Palm achievement award at the 27th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday.


Wearing her luscious golden locks out in a subtle wave, Cate ensured her makeup coordinated with spectacularly with her ensemble. 

Her lips were painted a striking scarlet to match the floral design on her dress, while her stunning blue eyes were accentuated with lashings of black mascara and and a slick of liner. 

Other stars attending the event included Brie Larson, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.



Cate was spotted reuniting with Carol co-star Rooney Mara at the soiree.
Rooney stunned in a sleek black dress, the mini number featuring laced embellishments across its straps and hemlines.

Along with a pair of black shoes to accentuate her height on the red carpet, the 30-year-old decided to pull her hair back and sport a bold smokey eye. 

Oscar-winning actress Cate is tipped for award this season success for her most starring role in the 1950s film Carol.

In good company: The actress was joined by director Ridley Scott (L) and actor Matt Damon (R), who claimed the Chairman's Award in Palm Springs on Saturday evening.


And on Saturday evening proved to be an auspicious start for the actress, who bagged the Desert Palm achievement award. 

She was clearly delighted as she took to the stage, where she accepted the award from actress Saoirse Ronan.

In her new film Cate plays a housewife who embarks on a lesbian affair with Rooney Mara's character after meeting in a department store.
